When it comes to interiors, I’m always on the look out. One of my favourite things to do is to look at interior magazines, Instagram, Pinterest and online shopping. I’m mainly online dreaming and drooling over all the wonderful interiors and fab products. (I have a big wish list). Gone are the days of window shopping we now have screen shopping, yep my new word for it. My screen shopping habit has noticed 3 trends…the first to catch my eye is the Disco Ball. This mirror ball is no longer a standard piece of equipment just for the discothèque, it’s now a must have for your home. Looking fabulous on ceilings, on floors, on shelves, shining in corners and bringing drama, fluttering light flecks around the walls. Ohhh where are you going to put yours….
The second item that keeps popping up is the Stendig Calendar. The design is a classic, a great example of graphic design that has function and style rolled into one. It was designed in the sixties by Massimo Vignelli and was embraced by the Museum of Modern Art in New York into their design collection in 1966. A product that has been around for 50 years is a testimony to its sleek design and good looks. It will still look good in another 50. This is not a calendar that blends into the background, it measures 3’x4′ and will make a statement in any space. It’s actually a work of art, so if you are looking for a calendar this Christmas this is the one. Stendig Calendar 2017
Third on my trend list is the ever popular neon light. As the nights are drawing in, we want to snuggle down with a warm hot chocolate, grab a throw, hibernate under soft glows of warm lighting and open fires. Lighting is so important at this time of year. So why not treat yourself to a neon to bring a cheeky smile to your space. You will be astounded by the choice that’s out there, from clouds to typography to flamingos to lips if you can’t find what you are looking for, you can commission and create your own. It’s a great way to add a pop of colour, art and personality to any room and I’m seeing them everywhere. A great source for inspiration is Instagram, so if your not on it, get on it as there are so many inspirational feeds that will ignite your interior taste buds.
Let me know if you are tempted…..:)
